We all lead a busy life and often miss our breakfast or eat out unhealthy stuff. I am in a quest to let go that laziness of preparing breakfast and try to make something healthy. I will try and share more regular recipes with you all. Lets start with The "Crispy Rawa Dhokla".

Rawa Dhokla Recipe


You will need-


  • Rawa/Sooji/Semolina
  • Capsicum - chopped
  • Carrots - chopped
  • Onions - small diced (optional)
  • Unflavored Eno - 1 sachet (blue pack)
  • Curd - one cup
  • Water
  • Salt

For Tempering

  • Refined oil - One Teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds - Half teaspoon
  • Dry red chilies - Two roughly chopped
  • Curry Leaves- a few


How to do it-

Take the rawa in a bowl spacious enough where you can mix all ingredients. Add the cut veggies to the rawa.
Add a cup of curd slowly to form a paste like consistency. Add water to make it flowy as batter like consistency.  Add salt. Stir well for a minute or so. Now add the packet of Eno and stir again for about 20 seconds.

Heat the Wok (Kadhai) or any flat base utensil with oil. Add all the tempering ingredients one by one. Make sure all the ingredients are evenly placed on the wok base, just like you take care of the toppings.
Pour the batter in the wok of hot oil and try to flatten the surface with a spoon.
Keep high flame for 2 minutes and let it cook. Do not stir or mix up the batter.

Now lower the flame, cover up the wok and let it cook for about 5-7 minutes.
Check with the toothpick/fork. If it comes out clean its ready to serve.
Turn off the flame. Now comes the fun part.

Put a plate equal to the size of the wok circumference on the wok head.  Hold the handle of the wok, and turn it upside down to let the entire rawa dhokla cake upside down. You will now see a crispy surface of the dhokla. With the tempering ingredients on the top it looks absolutely delicious and ready to eat.

Cut the dhokla cake into desired shape and eat hot with sauce or dip of your choice. I prefer plain and simple Tomato Ketchup.
This breakfast recipe is not only quick and easy, but very nutritious too.
