Revlon Eye shadow Review

When it comes to eye shadows there are quads, palettes and monos. I love them all. I have hoarded a lot off late and have less time to use them. The Revlon shadow links are small and easy to carry on the go and touch up any time. I wear them as singles and also smoke it a bit with kohl at times. I have four shades to share with you all.

Revlon Shadow Links Review

See it through my Eyes

When I started with makeup, I was a die heart fan of lipsticks. Not that I am no longer a fan, but my recent love has shifted focus to eye shadows and eye makeup. Though I am a beginner with it and not a pro at all. I love to experiment with eye makeup, I try all the stuff I have. You won’t believe there is so much lying in my stash that I hardly get time to use. Now a days I make it a point to use it everyday when getting ready for work.

Packaging

These come in tiny rectangular single plastic cases with a clear flip open lid. The shade name and details is stuck at the base on a sticker. The mono shadows have an inlet at both the sides for fitting into each other and link in. that’s a great concept I feel, to carry two or more together or store. Making a custom palette is easy now. What do you think?

Shades

Plum - It is satin finish intense mauve color with pink undertones. It is smooth and pigmented. When you see the pan, it has specs of silver glitter which doesn’t show when applied, I like the matte finish it has.

Khaki - This one is a shimmer shade which is quite wearable and nothing too “I need attention” kinds. It is a beautiful kaki green and lives up to its name perfectly. It is less pigmented and the colors need to build with a few layers/primer/wet brush methods.

Oyster - This one is a shimmery pearl white color which is chalk and less pigmented. This can be used as an inner corner highlight or a face highlighter, coz it hardly does anything as overall eyeshadow.

Gunmetal - This shade I bomb, it is up there on the eyes with all its glory. The color, the pigmentation and texture is bang on. It is that grey silver which I always wanted. This hade can stun your rock chic look.

Texture

The texture is silky smooth and easy to apply. The colors are powdery and blend well, one need to layer it for good color. The colors spread well on the eyes with little effort. The khaki and plum shade has a satin finish and glides like butter. The oyster color is not very silky, but patchy and little gritty.

Staying Power and Pigmentation

When I talk about the four shades, they have a medium color pay off. Since I am always on the go, I use my fingers to tap it on my eyelids. This provides maximum color pay off.  Using a primer or base is a great idea to get maximum color. Also the brush can be used damp for better pigmentation. But when you use with a brush, the depth reduces quite a bit. The staying power is good for about 6 hours, after which it will crease and fade away.

What I like about Revlon Colorstay Shadow Links Eye Shadow

  • The concept of shadow links
  • The handy size for slipping in smallest of bag
  • Touch up is easy
  • Custom palette can be made by choosing your favorite shades
  • Priced decently

What I don’t like about Revlon Colorstay Shadow Links Eye Shadow

  • Color pay off could have been better
  • Staying power is average

Recommendation: Yes
NoM Report Card: 3.5/5

Final Verdict

These shadow links are good to try if you like any shades. A custom palette can be made with the colors you like. But the medium color pay off and powdery texture is disappointing. Still the colors are good and can be tried once.

Have you used these little ones? Which is your favorite of the lot?
