Mayeblline Foundation

See it through my Eyes

So I was telling you about the poreless makeup I wanted to try. Though I use the primer before foundation, but in winters I don’t really prefer using a primer as it has a skin drying tendency. So I stumbled upon this foundation by Maybelline which gave me sort of satisfaction to blur out the pores.

Packaging

As you can make out this is housed in a transparent glass bottle with a plastic pump dispenser. The pump doesn’t get detached to the bottle and it might lead to product wastage as the bottle gets empty, the last bits might not be extracted through the pump only. The pump is secured with a transparent plastic cap, which is not tight or click lock by the way. Therefore the packaging is not quite travel friendly if you ask. All the product info is mentioned on the product body. It has a white sticker on the outer plastic film which has info about expiry, price and quantity. If you throw the cover, you lost the important info. A print on the bottle could have been helpful.

Texture

It is a light weight thick whipped cream sort of texture. When applied on the face alone it is difficult to blend. I always moisturize my skin before using it to avoid patchiness; yes it looks patchy if skin is dry.  On my combination skin it looks quite fine but oil secretes through the T-zone in a few hours. It has a sticky sort of feeling on application which fades when I powder the face.

Shades

This range is available in 6 different shades. The shades have both name and number. But I was quite confused which one to pick up. I ended up buying a lighter color as compared to my skin. The shade range is not very impressive though good range wise. I suggest trying the shade at the counter while choosing your shade. I use the shade O2 called porcelain which is light on my skin, but good to highlight.

Coverage

It provides sheer to medium coverage. More like a better coverage bb cream. The dark circles, blemishes might be visible. My dark circles don’t hide well with it. But it’s not a concealer, so I can’t complaint. The face looks quite satin smooth on application.

Staying Power

It stays on for good time during winters say 8 hours. But the wear time reduces in summer, it stays on till 4 to 5 hours after which it fades or oxidizes a bit.  The oil control is not bang on , face becomes shiny in a couple of ours.

How I use it

As the formula is quite creamy I dot it all over the face and neck. Spray the Colorbar mist or Za mist and buff it with the Real Techniques Buffing Brush or a makeup sponge. With the help of a mist it spreads quite well and doesn’t get patchy or uneven. I am wearing it here.

What I like about Maybelline Dream Satin Skin Air Whipped Liquid Foundation

  • The pump packaging
  • The air whipped texture
  • The medium coverage
  • The poreless finish
  • Has SPF
  • Has a variety of 6 shades
  • Suitable for regular use due to sheer coverage

What I don’t like about Maybelline Dream Satin Skin Air Whipped Liquid Foundation

  • The glass packaging is not travel friendly.
  • The pump dispenser doesn’t open
  • Can be patchy if skin is dry
  • Doesn’t give high coverage
  • Doesn’t hide dark circles and blemishes
  • Price is high.

Recommendation: Not really

NoM Report Card: 3/5

Final Verdict

This is a sheer to medium coverage satin finish foundation. It helps to keep the pores faded which is a plus.. It makes a good option if you want a everyday foundation. If you have oily skin skip it.

You can see me wearing this foundation here, here and here.
