Revlon Colorstay Makeup For Combination/Oily Skin Review, Swatches & Price in India

Hello Girlies,

We are into the festive mode in this space; the next essential to get “that look” is a good foundation. The base has to be right at all times. Period. One can never take the chance to mess up or experiment with the makeup base on special occasions. Please use what works best for you, I won’t suggest you to buy a new foundation at the last moment and use it for the first time on an occasion. Very Bad Idea, Girl!

I have already discussed about the L’Oreal Infallible Foundation and you must know how much I am in love with it. Since I had such a good experience with it, I had picked up another one along with it (my quench you know  ) and thought it’s about time to discuss it. Today it’s time for Revlon Colorstay Makeup to do some ramp walk Blum 3

Revlon Colorstay Makeup For Combination / Oily Skin Review

Revlon Colorstay Makeup For Combination / Oily Skin

See it through my Eyes

I am obsessed with good base makeup products. After L’Oreal and Lakme, I could not stop experimenting. This time it is from Revlon, this is the Colorstay Makeup for Combination/Oily skin.

The foundation is packed in a cylindrical transparent glass bottle with a black plastic pump dispenser. Yes the new variant has the pump, finally Revlon addressed this issue and we can’t be happier. The necessary details are all mentioned on the bottle body. The ingredients, the expiry date, are all mentioned which is great. The glass bottle is quite sturdy and can be travelled with. The cap shuts tightly, thus preventing any spillage.

It is a thick liquid which appears hard to blend. However, in actual it is much easier to blend and it gets instantly absorbed into the skin and dries very quick. I have to be very fast while blending it. I use my fingers to dab it all across the face and then buff it in with a brush. The appearance is flawless and skin looks so even and polished. The apperance is matte, yet not patchy or cakey. Warning - Bad layering can make you look ghastly. The smell is cough syrup like, which I hate.

Here comes the toughest part, to get the right color match. Most of the times they don’t have a tester pack, the sealed bottles are for sale cannot be touched anyway (until you buy it). On top of that, the store lighting is so exaggerated that it can’t serve the purpose. To keep away from all the confusion I took a chance and ordered it Online. I got the shade Sand Beige. I am not proud to say, I made the wrong choice, this shade is light for my skin. I had limited options anyway; the better match would have been Warm Golden for my NC 35 to 37 complexion. Anyway, once I apply it and blend it well with my Real Techniques Brush, it becomes one with my skin and I am quite satisfied.

This Revlon product is known for its coverage. The way it conceals the imperfections, rashes and dark circles is no joke.  It does its task beautifully. It is medium to heavy coverage makeup, depending on how well you apply it. You might need some concealing around the eyes though. For this, I layer it again around the eyes and  also puff a little powder around the eyes, to avoid it from creasing. The coverage is so good that it will easily take you through the festivity and an important event without worrying about the coverage.  You will look flawless with blended application. I am wearing this foundation here.

Staying Power

The staying power is another important factor to test the efficacy of a good base makeup product. The Revlon Foundation scores in this aspect as well. Well, the company claims are sky high. 24 HOURS. Who wears it for so long? I don’t, I got to sleep after removing my makeup right?  The staying power is very impressive though. It stays as it is for good 12 hours with my Colorbar Primer underneath. However, without the primer it can reduce to 8 hours with that oily nose shining away to glory. You can easily rely on this for a party to attend, or to look flawless in that get together coming up next. It will not budge for long hours Biggrin Oh! What a relief.
